  1. Welcome back, Mac. Can’t wait for Another One! Tour India this year, please? 🙂 *fingers crossed* Wooohoo!

    • @Sean O’Neill Definitely, I like Beach Fossils, Diiv, etc. but I don’t think any of those guys did anything new, there’s loads of stuff out there that sounds like those two bands, and I think anyone playing in that style could’ve gotten to the level that they did. Whereas Mac has something a bit more unique going on, both as a persona and musically.

That said, I would love to see him change up his style a little bit, and he seems to do that with Another One, that track is almost entirely synths.

    • @Taylor Friberg  But even before he was messing about with synths he had a different sound to either of those bands.

    • @zombiecatcher
I wouldn’t say better, but equally good.
It’s a little different but still has that great seal of Mac approval that we all crave.
I get to see them in Boston a few days after this album cums out and I am a little excited girl right now.

  2. well this is new! Oh MAC! the way I’d love to love YOU!
<3 I love these wavering warbling sounds. Heart melting, hips shaking 🙂

  3. This sounds great, almost like its left off from 2 or salad days. Catchy tune, thanks Mac. Can’t wait,

    • i knooow…that’s the worst. not that i don’t appreciate others liking their music as well! i just would prefer a smaller venue for tame impala (it’s also cheaper lol). i’m trying hard to see umo and real estate before loads of people realize how awesome they are.

    • @EskimoPagan God, I love Real Estate. I don’t think they’re touring regularly now, are they? I think Matt from Real Estate is just doing his own thing with Ducktails. I also love Ducktails so much haha omg

  4. Are there any vinyl pre-order details or is it just iTunes? ‘Cause I like vinyl.  And I hate iTunes.  🙁

  5. time to start venturing into some new territory mac. You’re a great songwriter and clearly capable. The main guitar track (the loutest and most distinguished one) with the trem and or chorus just doesn’t work with the other parts in this track. “the way you’d love her” just the title had me face palming a little bit. With this single I fear the album will live up to its name a little bit too much and then the funny “aha he’s making yet another one” moment will be more bored/dissapointed than funny.

    • @oldniggafuture why the fuck do people think this is a personal letter for mac. Its to start a discussion among fans.

    • @ltzp2 Yet, me makes 1,000+ a week, and you probably don’t. It’s not about the money, however.. you don’t know everything. Let him make the type of music that HE wants too.

    • @ltzp2 Serious discussion: I really don’t understand why you think the melody guitar doesn’t work with the other parts. Is it dissonant to you? Is it just too corny? I just really like this one better than most of the songs on Salad Days and I have to defend it.

When I hear that melody, especially when it progresses from that D to Bm (directly in the middle of the riff), it makes my heart swell. And although the vocals and lyrics in general are not particularly strong, the chorus feels dark and syrupy, like it’s recalling a hazy bittersweet memory. The chords are more complicated there, and lead guitar meanders through the chorus, which is actually a really interesting contrast with the lead guitar in the main riff. It’s sentimental. It’s emotional.

I don’t mean to overanalyze. I just like it a lot.

    • @Adhesive Boi Overuse of tremelo/chorus. It feels cheesy and corny to me. I definitely feel some of the deep potential that you see in the song I just think, like I said, its a bit cheesy. It seems, to me at least, like he overuses chorus and trem to get that retro hipster indy sound. I definitely like what he does with the solo and other aspects. I feel progression in his soloing and songwriting, just not nearly enough.

  6. This is awesome! Absolutely love it and released on my birthday!! What a special day <3 god bless mac daddy

    • @Sean O’Neill oh right sure yeah im not bothered about peoples comments i’ll always think Macs music is sick Af but yeah i agree i really enjoy the sound he had in chamber of reflection and passing out pieces but guess we’ll just have to wait and see 😉

  7. Mac DeMarco // The Way You’d Love Her // Lyrics :

    How’s your heart been beating?
    How’s your skin been keeping
How’s your dream been going since you’ve came back home this time
You left her out there somewhere
Don’t know how you feel but
Never really got the chance to show her what it really means to love her

    The way you’d love her
The way you’d love to love her
    The way you’d love her

    Close to the ending
    She’s still not pretending
Prying eyes eyes won’t recognize the way she feels about him
    She’ll just go on living
    The river keeps on rolling
Rolling all the time she’ll never understand just what it means to love her

    The way you’d love her
The way you’d love to love her
    The way you’d love her

    Love her

    The way you’d love her
The way you’d love to love her
    The way you’d love her

  8. macs got a distinct style, of course this albums gonna sound similar to his older stuff. I expect a ton more synth stuff though. He’s been stockin up on those old Roland’s for a while

  9. Doesn’t sound like he’s experimenting with more than what he knows. I enjoy Mac enough for that to not be a bad thing

  10. I enjoy Mac DeMarco, don’t get me wrong, but he keeps making the same fucking song over and over again. god dammit mac change it up a bit

  11. The fact this was recorded on a Tascam 388 is mind boggling…big step up in fidelity! Way to go mac (and Josh Bonati)…

  12. Since so many people seem to have gotten the lyrics wrong, I decided to post the correct ones. Enjoy:

    How’s your heart been beating
    How’s your skin been keeping
How’s the dreaming going since you came back home this time
You left her out there somewhere
Told her how you feel but
Never really got the chance to show her what it really means to love her

    The way you’d love her
The way you’d love to love her
    The way you’d love her

    Closer to the ending
    She’s still out pretending
Prying eyes won’t recognize the way she feels about him
    She’ll just go on living
    The river keeps on rolling
Knowing all the time she’ll never understand just what it means to love her

    The way you’d love her
The way you’d love to love her
    The way you’d love her

    Love her
    The way you’d love her
The way you’d love to love her
    The way you’d love her

    • @starfcy I think he might be talking about other guys. That they don’t recognize how she feels about him.

    • The whole song is about how love to some people is like going through the same mundane motions again and again and how those who fall in love with said people and get both discarded and replaced feel like, perhaps, they never truly showed how much they meant to them.

  13. I don’t know how this can be so catchy and make me feel kinda sad at the same time. Awesome track, can’t wait for the next album.

  14. Mac is such an underrated guitarist! People forget that he plays all of the instruments in his albums. (Goodbye Weekend, Ode to Viceroy, Dreamin’, and this) are all songs that show how good he is on guitar:)

  15. Mac is just a very honest romantic, his lyrics are simple and true. “The way you’d love to love her” the times when I’ve wanted to love someone how id like to, but felt slightly embarrassed about it.

  16. One of the finest and most underrated modern artists around, although the underrated part isn’t such a bad thing…

  17. This song is great and it plucks at the heartstrings because the story that he’s telling. A teenage boy perhaps, in love with a girl who feels the same way. But they won’t be able to be together.

  18. This song brings me back to falling in love with my girlfriend more than a year ago to sounds of Rock and Roll Night Club, 2, and Salad Days. It gave me the same exact high feels of being in love! His music will always play huge part in relationship and I can’t wait for his new album to drop.

  19. Love Mac but this song feels uninspired and lazy, I don’t know….. The bridge sounds exactly like the one in treat her better.

  20. I’m a fan – but if I could communicate my unimportant opinion to Mac I would say: Drums are too loud for this song & the chorus isn’t terribly strong, otherwise great, flowy, wonderful music. Mac’s style is groovy. I can imagine it’s difficult to find variations on this style and keep people interested (and i know he doesn’t care).

  21. Hope mac ventures out a bit more on this album, this is a good start, when your a fan though who fucking cares, just as long as this fuck keeps making songs I’m happy

  22. I don’t understand why people are so critical on artists and demand they progress their styles on upcoming albums. The tunes are righteous, just enjoy the music.

  23. Suprised most of his fan base are teens.. though I am a teen myself – But I love this new song, its good to hear something diffrent for a change than the modern music most artists put out these days that mostly sounds the same. KEEP ON GOING MAC

  24. “Mac songs are all starting to sound the same”. Yeah, maybe a bit. But they are all quality tunes, and there’s so much more to come from this LP.

    • @Nick McMullen I think it’s an F something. Try 13300x or 13320x.
Also, find my other comment and see if that works for you. Or correct me.

    • @Nick McMullen The notes in the third chord are Db, E (although it’s a diminished chord so you’d technically call it Fb), Bb, and C. It’s a first inversion Bb diminished triad with a major 9th. Pretty neat! You can voice it on guitar as X-X-11-9-11-8.

  25. Having Pre-ordered this on vinyl I’m curious as to how long a “mini LP” runs? Is this to say it is longer than an EP but shorter than a normal LP?

  26. if no one else has posted the chords, tuned a quarter step up:
G Am Am (or Am7 to follow the lead guitar) D
    Bm Em F C

    then the syrupy chorus:
    G Em7 F Cmaj7
you might add a 4 to that F. There are a lot of liberties you could take.

  27. How’s your heart been beating How’s your skin been keeping How’s the dreaming going since you came back home this time You left her out there somewhere Told her how you feel but Never really got the chance to show her what it really means to love her The way you’d love her The way you’d love to love her The way you’d love her Closer to the ending She’s still out pretending Prying eyes won’t recognize the way she feels about him She’ll just go on living The river keeps on rolling Knowing all the time she’ll never understand just what it means to love her The way you’d love her The way you’d love to love her The way you’d love her Love her  The way you’d love her The way you’d love to love her The way you’d love her

  28. Thanks for joining us for this episode of Mac’s Music! Find out next week if Mac breaks out of his shell and actually progresses his style! G’bye folks!

  29. So great!  Hey guys check out reggae side project Mac Spark O!  Its dub covers of all your favorite MD songs including “Salad Haze” as well as “Smoking Out The Neighborhood” and my latest gem “Chamber of Selection” its super hot got to work with semi legendary producer Jorb Jengus so you know its good!

  30. I think it’s a pretty good track. It’s probably his traditional love song (She’s Really All I Need, My Kind of Woman, Let My Baby Stay) for this new album. It sounds like he’s really defining his style. This track sounds a little more technical than usual, and it sounds like he’s nailed a specific sound style. It’s more shoe-gazey and meshed than usual, I think. Although he seems to understand his style very well by now, it seems like he isn’t going to experiment much. He’s probably going to do more synth stuff, like everyone’s been predicting.

Whatever he does, his character, style, and properties will keep him on top, and I think everyone will be okay.

  31. The fact that he’s so upfront lyrically and personally I think adds to the “dynamic” of his music

  32. Hipster logic: 2012: man this guy is really good. I wish more people would listen to good quality music like this than the shit music people listen to now a’ days.
2015: man why does he have such a big fan base now? I wish things were like the old days. I want him to not succeed in his music career because I want to be the only one to know about him.

  33. Great track Mac…. now how about playing a Gig on Vancouver Island.>>>???
You guys can stay at my house..,,, lol
    cheers
    charliewired

  34. Okay I’m just gonna go ahead and say it, this was disappointing. I’m a huge Mac fan, saw him in San Francisco last year, but honestly this song sounds rushed and on the verge of no creativity. I thought he was going I N the direction of songs such as Chamber of Reflections or Passing Out Pieces with brighter and flashy synths but no. Then there’s his beautiful songs like my kind of woman, salad days, blue boy, viceroy, this is not comparable, this is washed down dire straights met with lack of creativity and stressful deadlines. Mac, I haven’t lost hope just that this track isn’t that great of okay at all. 🙁

  35. hey look, i think mac having similar tunes is a good thing and bad..the reason why his fans base is going up is because people love getting induced in his albums and then when he releases a new song its like a new track to the album. with that being said it would be cool to see him come up with some totally different tracks and see where his true fans lie, just like any other artist, when they change into the direction they want to go, you get air heads being like fuck this shit and then you have curious open minded that have a taste for sound… please don’t use the pop music formula Demarco PLEaSE

  36. new yogk, new yogk, new yok, new yogk, new yogk, new yogk, new yogk, new yogk, new yogk, new yogk NEW YORK CITYYYYY uggh NEW YOGK

  37. First of all, Mac’s a sexy piece of man… But I would also like to point out how awesome his stuff is slowed down. He should put in on iTunes, call it Slac Demarco, sounds dumb but PROFIT BABY… Much Love, Peace

  38. I don’t really like this one as much as I like Another One, but there’s a lot to like about this song too. I’m just excited to give this album a listen. August 7th can’t come soon enough.

  39. Mac needs to be inducted into the Roll and Roll Hall of Fame. If Bruce Jenner gets inducted in there before Mac I am jumping off the Supreme Court’s Justice’s house.

  40. that was silky smooth, & thank you mac demarco. congratulations on the album release, i really enjoy and appreciate the music you create. 🙂 btw capturedtracks/mac demarco/intern is peter sagar also on the upcoming album?

  41. Sería hermoso que usaras un Pedal Steel Guitar bueno no se no soy quien para decir que debes hacer KSDJFNS pero encuentro que sonaría bien ñauuuuuuu

  42. Anyone else think he sounds slightly like John Lennon? In voice and style of music. I like to pretend sometimes that it’s new music by Lennon.

  43. I bought this album and the first thing my dad said was “what is this spongebob crap” and I was so confused until I finally heard this song and I was dyin. Great album though haha

  44. All his music sounds the same, and that’s A-okay with me. I think i’ll buy his shit just to support him even though I usually just listen to his stuff on YouTube anyway.

  45. I heard this in a shopping mall
hrough all the noise I thought it must be a George Harrison track that I haven’t heard.
    nice job
    has a 70’s feeling

  46. Esta pista me hace sentir como en la playa, con una cerveza helada y un cigarrito, recordando el olor a perfume de limon de su cabello, mis manos por su cintura y su respiracion en mi cara, que buen verano me ha tocado…

    • I got into him thru Salad Days like most folks I imagine and I went back to all the old shit and you’re right there’s not a bad song in the bunch. Even the weaker more forgettable tracks here and there are still well written and have a great melancholy to them. His newer stuff since Salad Days I honestly think is his best work yet

  47. This song speaks to me, especially after my very recent break up. I’m not sure if this song could be related to a break up to u guys but that chorus is fucking speaking to me

  48. Hey Mac, ‘m in the train heading to uni, trying to get my shit tgther and not get crazy over the people around me, and then the guitar intro of his song plays in my ears. I breathe again. Love u man u r the best. Thnx. Have a great day

  49. Music is such a trip man. Last December I was more depressed than I’d ever been, just out the closet, new at university, not making any friends, no family nearby, absolutely no self-esteem. I would go on cold walks during lunch, smoke menthol cigarettes and listen to Mac DeMarco, wishing I was someone else, thinking about the hot chick from the x-files. How depressing is that? Yet this song is so beautiful it takes me right back, it captures that feeling perfectly and almost makes me miss it.

  51. He is indeed my 1 favorite artist <3 his voice speaks to my soul and makes me smile and happy :3

  52. How’s your heart been beating?
    How’s your skin been keeping?
How’s the dream been going since you came back home this time?
And left her out there somewhere
Told her how you feel but
Never really got the chance to show her what it really means to love her

    The way you’d love her
The way you’d love to love her
    The way you’d love her

    Closer to the ending
    She’s still out pretending
Prying eyes won’t recognize the way she feels about him
    She’ll just go on living
    The river keeps on rolling
Knowing all the time she’ll never understand just what it means to love her

    The way you’d love her
The way you’d love to love her
    The way you’d love her

    Love her

    The way you’d love her
The way you’d love to love her
    The way you’d love her

  53. If our dearest john Lennon has incarnated in any artist these days, that’s probably Mac de Marco…so good
